Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician
Great Plains Communications is looking for a detail-oriented person to monitor and assist in network troubleshooting from our state-of-the-art Network Operations Center (NOC) in Blair, Nebraska.
The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for monitoring and incident response for all services on the company network. Other duties include:
- Maintaining contact with internal staff and external customers as needed for complex and/or widespread network disruptions
- Controlling and managing network and system monitoring and/or management tools
- Troubleshooting and maintaining company network infrastructure
- Identifying areas for improvement within the Network Operations Center and making changes to tools, processes, documentation, and skillsets as needed
Successful candidate must have knowledge of telecommunications networks and systems, including servers, routers, layer 2/3 switches, voice switches, VOIP, CATV, Wireless (WiFi), and fiber optics/copper/hybrid fiber-coaxial constructions and splicing. Must also have basic knowledge of simple network management protocol (SNMP), object identifier (OID), and Management Information Base (MIB) relationship. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, written and verbal communication skills, and customer relation skills are a must. Must be able to rotate work shifts (7am-4pm and 8am-5pm) as well as participate in after-hours on call.
Three to five years of technical experience is desired. Professional certifications including CCNA, VCA, or MTA are a plus.
