Senior IP Network Engineer

Great Plains Communications is looking for a high-energy, detail-oriented person to provide senior level support to our IP engineering team.

This position is responsible for:

  • Engineering, building, and supporting our service provider networks
  • Researching, testing, configuring, installing, and maintaining equipment
  • Troubleshooting customer and network problems
  • Analyzing performance issues
  • Resolving outages
  • Providing support to other departments and technicians

Successful candidate must have advanced knowledge of networking technologies such as Cisco router and switch hardware, Cisco IOS, IOS XE, IOS XR operating systems, OSPF and BGP routing protocols, IPv4/v6 subnetting and routing, and SD-WAN.  Experience with various CPE including Cisco and Adtran is also desired.  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, written and verbal communication skills, and customer relation skills are a must.  Must be able work outside normal business hours and be on-call as necessary.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, plus five to eight years of experience in telecommunications/service provider industry is desired.  Professional certifications are a plus.
