Do you have a passion for technology, a desire for growth, and a drive to lead?  Great Plains Communications is looking for you!  We have an opening for an energetic, detail-oriented IT professional to lead our IT and NOC services teams at our Blair, Nebraska headquarters.

The IT and NOC Manager position is accountable for:

  • Providing 24x7 support for all corporate systems, networks, and applications, as well as second-level supervision of our customer-facing Network Operations Center (NOC)
  • Leading the design, selection, and implementation of all required infrastructure components
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining the hardware and software for all PCs, servers, phone systems, security systems, and data center networking components
  • Ensuring all systems are managed in a secure, efficient, reliable, and cost-effective manner
  • Managing the IT customer service function to ensure business applications, user and technology problems, and system outages are resolved
  • Ensuring applications are properly installed and maintained, and all essential information and data files are backed up on a regular basis
  • Ensuring all IT systems meet the needs of the corporate Business Continuity Plan
  • Developing and implementing IT standards, policies, and procedures
  • Researching new technologies and making purchase recommendations
  • Managing the capital and expense budget for the department
  • Leading, mentoring, and coaching IT department staff members

Successful candidate must have knowledge of:

  • Systems Engineering – servers, storage, virtualization, applications
  • Network Engineering – routing, switching, load balancing, wireless networking
  • Security Engineering – firewalls, IDS/IPS
  • Operating Systems – Linux, Windows, Cisco
  • Data Center Infrastructures – Cisco UCS/ACI, VMware, 3PAR, Pure, APC
  • Enterprise Applications – Active Directory, Exchange, Skype, Office365
  • Monitoring and Management Tools – NMS, SIEM

Strong communication, customer relations, and time and project management skills are required.  Must be able to work non-standard business hours and lift 35-50 pounds as necessary.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or similar area, plus 8 years of holistic information technology experience in a medium-sized enterprise environment, including 3 years supervisory experience is desired.
